Czech bathroom with Red Dot Design Award

Česká koupelna s oceněním Red DotThis year, the most prestigious international product design award, the Red Dot Design Award, goes to the RAVAK brand. It is the only Czech manufacturer to have been awarded this prize by the jury in the Bathroom category. RAVAK received the Red Dot for the new 10° concept by designer Kryštof Nosál, based on a slight rotation of each element by 10° towards the user.

The 10° concept includes a bathtub, two styles of basin, bathroom furniture, a bathtub screen and mixer taps. All the basic equipment for a regular bathroom. "For us, the Red Dot is an acknowledgement of the successful delivery of our long term strategy – an innovative approach and a high quality finish – not only for luxury, but also mass-produced goods that are affordable for everyone. We try to show customers the way through a market which is saturated with nameless products of varying quality, and the most respected international product design award assures us that this is the correct path to take," says Patrik Kreysa, co-owner of RAVAK.

This year, the Red Dot international competition celebrates its 60th anniversary and ranks among the most respected competitions in the field of product design. Incidentally, the RAVAK brand achieved this award in a year when a record number of 4928 products were entered from 56 different countries.

Designer Kryštof Nosál has been working for the RAVAK brand since 2006, when the very first collaboration resulted in the iconic Evolution bathtub, which won the 2006 Excellent Product Award from the CZECHDESIGN agency. A graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, he received, among other awards, second place in the Electrolux Design Lab International Competition in New York and his other work for RAVAK has been repeatedly nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award. Currently, he is the main designer of new RAVAK products.

RAVAK is still 100% Czech, currently owned by founding Vařeka and Kreysa families. It has been in the industry for 24 years and in that time has become the biggest Czech manufacturer of bathroom equipment. It has its own branches in most Central and Eastern European countries, as well as Dubai and similar locations. It exports to over 50 countries worldwide, with expansion currently aimed at Africa where the company does business in Nigeria and Ghana. RAVAK is also successful in China, where it has been active for many years supplying Czech products for home improvement projects. RAVAK has 800 employees and its 2014 turnover was USD 100 million. The RAVAK brand is oriented mainly towards manufacturing shower enclosures and acrylate products such as bathtubs, shower trays and basins made of cast marble. The product range is complemented by bathroom furniture, mixer taps and bathroom accessories. The main elements of shower enclosures and screens (the frames) are manufactured at the company's own galvanising plant. RAVAK, therefore, can ensure 100% control over the entire production process.
